Analysis of Business English Translation in Hospitality Industry Based on Skopos Theory

Abstract—This thesis analyzes a purpose-oriented business translation, Skopos theory, in the hospitality industry. The topics are related to the use of language and branding strategies. This thesis aims to propose a holistic approach to business translation for the hospitality business based on the theory and localization project. Different U.S. and Chinese business brands will be used as examples. Following the criticisms of Skopos theory, the business translator’s responsibilities will be specified within a localization project in the process of international brand expansion.
